Auction Tips
Show Up early!
Give yourself at least 30 mins to check out all of the items before the bidding starts. This way you'll have a better idea of the condition of the item before you bid (and you may find some hidden gems too!)
Bring valid ID. Most auctions require you to register with valid ID before you receive your bidder number. This is to deter, and protect the auctioneer from, any deadbeat bidders.
Have a budget in mind before you bid. A budget for the whole night, and a budget per item. Knowing how much you would be willing to pay beforehand for each item will save you from overbidding in the heat of the moment.
Don't wait too long to bid! If you wait too long, thinking the auctioneer will go to a low price, you may be upset when he thinks no one wants the item and takes it down before anyone has the chance to bid.
Don't bid unless you want it!! A bid is saying you will buy the item for that price. Backing out of a bid, or refusing to pay could get you banned from future auctions, depending on where you go. Different auctioneers handle this differently. You may still get charged with the fee, since your bid cancelled a willing buyer out of an item. So, don't bid too much if you aren't sure, show up early and inspect the items you want, ask the auctioneer questions BEFORE the auction starts... and have fun! You're most likely to walk out with a great deal that you can brag to your friends about later :)
